Elizabeth Madrigal, Moving Forward!

Elizabeth Madrigal

Elizabeth Madrigal is doing an outstanding job in the Corona Snack Store.  She’s shown growth and maturity in the service she provides, always taking initiative; and in accepting the responsibilities of her position. She’s always cheerful and pleasant and willing to assist wherever needed.

Elizabeth recently expressed the desire to continue moving forward and train at Ancho’s Southwest Grill & Bar to further develop her skills. She is awesome and we want to congratulate her on her success!

Beating the Odds

Cornelius Jordan survived a Jaywalking accident.

On the morning of January 10, 2018 at 6am, Cornelius was running late to catch his RTA bus to his work program. He ran across Arlington Avenue.

While running across the street, he didn’t notice the truck going 40 mph towards him. The truck hit him. Cornelius sustained injuries to his left leg, ankle, and right arm.

Surgery, physical therapy, hard work, and the love of his family will give him the ability to walk again. He will be in recovery for a long time.

Our director, Mo Gaji, created a huge gift basket with lots of goodies and books in it and cards that many signed. Cornelius’ Case Manager, Guy Mersereau, came for a visit and delivered this care package. As Guy entered the facility, he noticed Cornelius playing cards at the receptionist desk. Guy said, “It was nice to see Cornelius’ smiling face again”.

If anyone wishes to visit him, please see Case Manager Guy at the Riverside building.

Our hope for him is a speedy recovery.

My Day At Glen Ivy Hot Springs

On Martin Luther King Day, my Mom and I went to Glen Ivy in Corona to spend the day together.

We both had a good time and spent most of our day relaxing by the pool. During the times we weren’t relaxing, one of us was either in the hot tub or taking a mud bath. Later that day, my Mom and I went to the 2pm aerobics class and got ourselves a good workout. My Mom and I had a good time and I’m hoping to spend time with my Mom again soon.

Until next time,

Neva Noland

Neva Noland lived at the Enchanted Rainbow Residential care facility and enjoyed many outings with her group home. She started working at Ability Counts on January 11,1999, completing 19 years of employment. She worked in both Supported Employment and the Work Activity programs. She worked at the Central building, Corona and Riverside.

She loved working, especially boxing garment hangers. She also did well in the recent recycle contracts. Neva was very social and friendly, loved by all. She attended Friendly Stars social club every Friday night. She also belonged to a bowling league and was a good bowler. She enjoyed attending events held by ACI.

We were told by her Care Provider, while she was hospitalized, that she kept telling him she wanted to go back to work.

Neva Noland, a special lady, she enjoyed life.
She will be missed.

Bowling With My Friend

A couple of weeks ago I went bowling with my good friend Jessica. Bowling is one of our favorite activities to do when we get together because it is very fun, although I have to say I have a bit of a competitive streak when I play but I don’t like to show it in front of Jessica. We had a really good time and we both got a couple of strikes and spares. Jessica and I played three games and once we were done my Mom took us both out to lunch. I had a really good time with Jessica and I hope we can get together again soon.

Until next time,
